Why name it the Padawan? As an apprentice to renowned knifemaker Flavio Ikoma—known to some as the “Master”—Buzetti's role as “padawan” was the perfect inspiration to debut his first design. Pedro Buzetti’s first knife design with CRKT, this capable folding knife was crafted for form and function, with a drop point blade made from 14C28N steel, and a handsome micarta overlay on the handle for improved grip. The frame lock was modified to keep the blade secure, and the clip lets the knife sit low in the pocket.

That starts with textured glass filled nylon scales and a dual stainless steel liner InterFrame. Assembled with glass filled nylon back spacers and Torx® fasteners, the result is amazingly rigid. Glass filled nylon offers excellent toughness and resistance to solvents. Lubrous washers at the blade pivot and an adjustable pivot screw allow for perfect blade action.  The blade is 8CR15MoV high-carbon stainless steel which gives an ideal combination of toughness and edge-holding ability in a work knife, and also allows easy field-sharpening. The M16®-01KZ uses our popular spear point slim profile blade with a Razor-Sharp edge. It is ideal for fine cutting and carving tasks. It has a black EDP blade, black frame and hardware.Of course, it features the Carson Flipper, which speeds opening of the blade and acts as a blade guard when the blade is open. This knife also features our automated liner safety innovation which automatically sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use. Ken Onion Design

The Ripple is noteworthy for its exceptional manufacturing quality, plus an almost unbelievable silky smooth and fast opening action thanks to the use of the IKBS internal knife ball-bearing system.

The modified drop point blade has a high hollow grind, swedged top edge, and a high satin finish. Blade Steel is 8CR14Mov high carbon stainless steel with an HRC rating of 57-59. The blade is instantly opened by pressing the blade flipper with either hand. For safety while closed, the blade has a ball detent.

Even the best conventional blade pivot bearings have some degree of friction which resists initial movement, or "stiction." In contrast, the Ripple blade opening action is almost friction-free due to the IKBS ball-bearing system. This innovative and simple design places ball bearings built into the stainless pivot screw. It is compact and adjustable at the blade pivot screw if ever needed. Not only is opening and closing exceptionally smooth, the IKBS system is durable and requires little maintenance, and yields a folder with great rigidity and no blade play.

The Ripple K415KXP model has locking liner. In typical Ken Onion attention to detail, the aluminum handles are CNC machined with over 40 lightening holes and small ripples. The handles are then hard anodized black and then the top of the ripples are polished off to create a pocket worn finish.

Ken Onion designed the stainless steel clip so it tucks away nicely in your pocket for every day carry and easy access.
