When Spyderco introduced the first Sprint Run™ Shaman® combining the traditional look of brown canvas Micarta scales and CPM CRU-WEAR blade steel, we were overwhelmed by the response. Later dubbed “CruCarta,” this distinctive pairing of old-school, high-performance materials became an instant classic. To ensure we could meet customer demand when we applied the “CruCarta” treatment to other models, we decided to make them full-line products, not limited editions. We began with the Para Military 2 and are now proud to add four more USA-made models to this elite family. All feature skeletonized full stainless steel liners, slim brown canvas Micarta scales, and CPM CRU-WEAR tool steel blades that offer an outstanding balance of edge retention and toughness. The scales of all these knives are sanded smooth but left unpolished, so they will naturally patina with age and handling to develop their own unique character.

Adding titanium handle scales, a stout Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) mechanism, and a stainless steel interface to the time-tested Tenacious creates an impressively upscale version of this popular design. To elevate it even further, this expression of it cloaks the full-flat-ground 8Cr13MoV stainless steel blade in a non-reflective black oxide coating. To complement the blade and provide visual contrast against the anodized blue scales, the knife’s broad-based four-position clip and all other handle hardware also sport handsome black coatings.

The best-selling Tenacious model is not only the flagship of Spyderco’s Value Folder line; it has also earned a rightful place as one of the most iconic folding knives we have ever produced. This unique expression of it elevates the design to all-new heights by rendering it with titanium handle scales and an ultra-reliable Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) mechanism with a stainless steel interface. Meticulously crafted from solid titanium, the scales have precision-machined recesses on their interior surfaces to minimize weight and are color anodized a bright blue. They also include four sets of mounting holes for the knife’s broad-based pocket clip to allow a choice of left or right-side, tip-up or tip-down carry. The business end of this remarkable knife features a satin-finished, full-flat ground blade crafted from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel. A stunning evolution of a workhorse design, this knife ushers in a new era in the Tenacious’ proud history.

The second-generation Military 2 enhances the venerable Military model with the addition of a high-strength Compression Lock® mechanism and the versatility of a four-position pocket clip. This expression of it raises the bar even higher with a blade crafted from Spyderco’s proprietary CPM SPY27 steel. Starting with the time-tested alloy formula of VG-10 stainless steel, SPY27 increases the volumes of carbon, molybdenum, and vanadium and adds niobium and nitrogen. Crucible® Industries’ state-of-the-art particle metallurgy manufacturing process then ensures a uniform distribution of these alloys throughout the steel. The result is an extremely homogenous microstructure that maximizes the steel’s edge holding, toughness, and corrosion resistance. To further distinguish this knife as a member of Spyderco’s elite SPY27 family, its handle features peel-ply-textured G-10 scales in a signature cobalt-blue color.

This limited-edition Sprint Run™ expression of the Endura® 4 Lightweight showcases Carpenter® Technology’s Micro-Melt PD#1, an air-hardening, cold-work die steel specially formulated to offer both superior wear resistance and toughness. Its advanced alloy composition is further enhanced by the CarTech® Micro-Melt powder metal process, which ensures an ultra-fine, extremely homogeneous grain structure. Functionally equivalent to CPM® CRU-WEAR®, this high-performance steel is the heart of this knife’s full-flat-ground PlainEdge™ blade. To make this elite Endura 4 Lightweight even more distinctive, its blade is cloaked in a non-reflective titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating and its fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle is injection molded in a deep burgundy color.
