Speider was originally designed for older scouts who had enough experience to move on to a larger and more powerful knife. The handle in dark, oiled birch is ergonomically adapted to a good four-finger grip, and the solid fingerguard provides good protection when working with the knife. The blade is in 12C27 stainless steel with a thin, Scandinavian grind and comes razor sharp out of the leather sheath.  The handle is a natural material and appearance will vary from knife to knife.

Helle Viking Model 96 general purpose field knife. The Viking is a revision of a Helle classic that was produced as part of a fund-raiser for an around-the-world- cruise of a Viking longship. The knife is notable not only for its historical interest, but also as an excellent all around utility knife. The blade is rather thick and made of laminated carbon steel. The black finish of the heat treatment is left on the sides for rustic look. The tang of the blade is peened over a diamond shaped washer.
