The original Temperance fixed blade was both a utilitarian cutting tool and a proud member of Spyderco’s “Martial Blade Craft” (MBC) family of knives. To enable MBC practitioners to safely practice their skills with a partner, we also created a trainer version of the Temperance with a blunt edge and point. This limited-edition Sprint Run resurrects that concept with a blunted blade crafted from 420J2 stainless steel. The blade is flat ground and has a series of holes in it to closely replicate the weight of its live blade counterpart while providing a rounded point and edge safe for controlled contact with a partner. Its injection-molded FRN handle is bright red to clearly identify it as a training tool and it comes complete with a dedicated Boltaron sheath and G-Clip. The Para 3 Lightweight replaces the G10 scales normally found on the Para 3, with with Brown Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon (FRN) scales for a weight savings of nearly 30%. A streamlined version of Spyderco's patented compression lock is paired with a stainless steel lock bar insert that is inset into the handle to ensure a solid lock while keeping weight at a minimum. The knife features a full flat ground blade made from CPM-15V, a premium tool steel that offers good edge retention.
