Designed by company co-founder Sal Glesser, the Temperance was one of Spyderco’s earliest fixed blade models. Now this classic design is back as a limited-edition Sprint Run, showcasing a gray-colored fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle and a full-flat-ground PlainEdge™ or SpyderEdge™ blade crafted from CPM CRU-WEAR. Specially formulated to offer both superior wear resistance and toughness, CRU-WEAR’s advanced alloy composition is further enhanced by the Crucible Particle Metallurgy (CPM) process to ensure an ultra-fine, extremely homogeneous grain structure. Faithful to the original, the knife’s ergonomic handle is injection molded directly onto the tang of the blade and features a series of bilateral “dimples” to enhance its texture and provide pivot points for grip-change maneuvers. Itstough fiberglass-reinforced-nylon(FRN) construction minimizes weight and offers the high-traction advantages of our Bi-Directional Texturing pattern, while its nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners ensure excellent structural strength and precise alignment of all key components. Like the other versions of the Chaparral, its definin features include a full-flat-ground CTS XHP stainless steel blad, a fully accessible Trademark Round Hole for ambidextrous one-handed opening, a sturdy back lock mechanism, and a reversible deep-pocket wire clip that supports discreet left or right-side tip-up carry.

This limited-edition version of the Police 4 Lightweight features Carpenter Technologys Micro-Melt PD#1, an air-hardening, cold-work die steel designed for superior wear resistance and toughness. Its advanced alloy composition is further improved by the CarTech Micro-Melt powder metal process, ensuring an ultra-fine, homogeneous grain structure. Equivalent to CPM CRU-WEAR, this high-performance steel is the core of the knifes full-flat-ground PlainEdge blade. The blade is coated with a non-reflective titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating for added distinction, and the fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle is molded in a deep burgundy color. Matching the black-and-burgundy theme, the four-position pocket clip, lock bar, and handle hardware are also finished with durable black coatings.

When Spyderco introduced the first Sprint Run™ Shaman® combining the traditional look of brown canvas Micarta scales and CPM CRU-WEAR blade steel, we were overwhelmed by the response.
