The Roadie now has a big brother: the Roadie XL. It faithfully offers all the defining features of its smaller counterpart— including a non-locking “notched-joint” mechanism, a textured index-finger choil, and contoured, injection-molded handle scales. Its full-flat-ground sheepfootstyle blade is crafted from M398 stainless steel and features our distinctive “Double Dent™”—a pair of symmetrical dimples in the blade that provide a solid purchase for a fingernail-free two-handed opening. In addition to its larger size, the Roadie XL also adds a deep-pocket wire clip for convenient top-of-the-pocket carry.

The newest addition to Spyderco's unique Chaparral series of gentlemen's folding knives, the Chaparral Lightweight offers the same design theme and functionality as its brothers, but with a simple, reliable, and affordable injection molded handle. Itstough fiberglass-reinforced-nylon(FRN) construction minimizes weight and offers the high-traction advantages of our Bi-Directional Texturing pattern, while its nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners ensure excellent structural strength and precise alignment of all key components. Like the other versions of the Chaparral, its definin features include a full-flat-ground CTS XHP stainless steel blad, a fully accessible Trademark Round Hole for ambidextrous one-handed opening, a sturdy back lock mechanism, and a reversible deep-pocket wire clip that supports discreet left or right-side tip-up carry.

Its advanced alloy composition is enhanced by the CarTech Micro-Melt powder metal process, ensuring an ultra-fine, homogeneous grain structure. Comparable to CPM CRU-WEAR, this high-performance steel forms the core of the knifes full-flat-ground PlainEdge blade. The blade is coated with a non-reflective titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating for added distinction, and the fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle is molded in a deep burgundy color. When Spyderco introduced the first Sprint Run™ Shaman® combining the traditional look of brown canvas Micarta scales and CPM CRU-WEAR blade steel, we were overwhelmed by the response. Later dubbed “CruCarta,” this distinctive pairing of old-school, high-performance materials became an instant classic. To ensure we could meet customer demand when we applied the “CruCarta” treatment to other models, we decided to make them full-line products, not limited editions. We began with the Para Military 2 and are now proud to add four more USA-made models to this elite family. All feature skeletonized full stainless steel liners, slim brown canvas Micarta scales, and CPM CRU-WEAR tool steel blades that offer an outstanding balance of edge retention and toughness. The scales of all these knives are sanded smooth but left unpolished, so they will naturally patina with age and handling to develop their own unique character.
