Please note that the Old Hickory knives are made with carbon steel.  We have been making Old Hickory since the early 1900's.  Carbon steel knives require extra care to prevent rusting and oxidation of the surface.  Old Hickory should not be placed in a dishwasher or allowed to soak in a sink.  We recommend cleaning the blade with a damp sponge or cloth and dry thoroughly.  Some people go a step further and apply a light coating of vegetable oil to the blades surface. If your blade shows signs of rust, use some steel wool to remove it and then apply some oil to the blade.   To keep the blade razor sharp, use a honing steel, sometimes referred to as sharpening steel, or sharpening stick. After years of use, the steel blade will develop a patina, a darkening which is desirable and an indication of its age.  Old Hickory knives are durable and affordable, but do require special care.

The Old Hickory® now come in a beautiful block set. The block is composed of hardwood. It also comes with 5 Old Hickory knives: 3-1/4' Paring Knife, 4' Paring Knife, 6' Boning Knife, 8' Slicing Knife, 7' Butcher Knife.  The hardwood block has capacity for 8 knives adding flexability to this set.  Block measures approximately 7.7" high, 9.8" wide and 4.4" deep

Ontario Mark 3 Model O Navy Dive Knife This knife is used exclusively by U.S. Naval Forces. Ontario Knife Company has produced the this knife for many decades and it has seen combat with U.S. armed forces. This Ontario Rat 1 folder features a 3 1/2" flat ground modified drop point plain edge blade of D2 tool steel. Black scales over full steel liners for strength. Linerlock. Dual thumbstuds. Drilled and tapped on all four corners for right or left side tip-up or tip-down carry. ~5" closed. A great quality knife with excellent blade steel at a reasonable price. Imported NOTE: D2 is a high carbon tool steel and may discolor or rust. This is not a flaw in the steel, simply it's nature. Keep blade clean, dry and lightly oiled if you wish to try and maintain the original finish.
