While 1095 is a top choice for professional cutlery designed for hard use, it will rust and stain if not properly cared for, especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user's responsibility to keep the blades properly lubricated and cleaned. ESEE Knives suggest using a dry film rust inhibitor such as Tuf-Glide or Tuf-Cloth. The Military™ 2 is a follow-up to the renowned Military Model™, designed specifically to meet the needs of those in service. In this version, the blade is coated with a stealthy Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) finish, ensuring zero reflection in operational environments where light discipline is crucial. To complement the blade's DLC coating, the handle's stainless steel liners, pocket clip, and hardware are also treated with matching black coatings. Available in all three edge configurations, this all-black rendition of the Military 2 represents the perfect balance between low profile aesthetics and exceptional performance.

When Spyderco introduced the first Sprint Run™ Shaman® combining the traditional look of brown canvas Micarta scales and CPM CRU-WEAR blade steel, we were overwhelmed by the response. Later dubbed “CruCarta,” this distinctive pairing of old-school, high-performance materials became an instant classic. To ensure we could meet customer demand when we applied the “CruCarta” treatment to other models, we decided to make them full-line products, not limited editions. We began with the Para Military 2 and are now proud to add four more USA-made models to this elite family. All feature skeletonized full stainless steel liners, slim brown canvas Micarta scales, and CPM CRU-WEAR tool steel blades that offer an outstanding balance of edge retention and toughness. The scales of all these knives are sanded smooth but left unpolished, so they will naturally patina with age and handling to develop their own unique character.

The second-generation Military 2 enhances the venerable Military model with the addition of a high-strength Compression Lock® mechanism and the versatility of a four-position pocket clip. This expression of it raises the bar even higher with a blade crafted from Spyderco’s proprietary CPM SPY27 steel. Starting with the time-tested alloy formula of VG-10 stainless steel, SPY27 increases the volumes of carbon, molybdenum, and vanadium and adds niobium and nitrogen. Crucible® Industries’ state-of-the-art particle metallurgy manufacturing process then ensures a uniform distribution of these alloys throughout the steel. The result is an extremely homogenous microstructure that maximizes the steel’s edge holding, toughness, and corrosion resistance. This limited-edition Sprint Run™ expression of the Endura® 4 Lightweight showcases Carpenter® Technology’s Micro-Melt PD#1, an air-hardening, cold-work die steel specially formulated to offer both superior wear resistance and toughness. Its advanced alloy composition is further enhanced by the CarTech® Micro-Melt powder metal process, which ensures an ultra-fine, extremely homogeneous grain structure. Functionally equivalent to CPM® CRU-WEAR®, this high-performance steel is the heart of this knife’s full-flat-ground PlainEdge™ blade.
