His Minimalist® neck knives have proven to be very popular, so we are now offering three CRKT production versions. They are very small and lightweight knives which give surprising comfort and control, thanks to the unusual geometry of the full-tang blades, aided by three finger choils, friction grooves for the thumb, hand-contoured green-black resin impregnated fiber scales, and a braided fob. Unlike many small neck knives, this handle is really functional for a wide variety of daily cutting tasks. Each Minimalist comes with a custom-fitted glass filled nylon sheath and neck paracord for inverted carry as a neck knife. The knife is held securely in place by a positive detent which locks the base of the blade in place for maximum safety. Because the knife and sheath weigh about two ounces together, it is a personal carry you will barely notice. Minimalist® Tanto. The 2.125" Tanto blade shape is very strong because of the strong central spine of metal which extends nearly to the tip. This version has a straight Razor-Sharp front edge, which allows push cutting, and a concave main edge which feeds material into the edge for fast cutting. True to their name, these really are minimal fixed blades, but they are also the most useful for their size that we have seen. And they are certainly a great value, which explains why the Minimalist family continues to grow. The distinctive blade of this full tang fixed blade knife has a gray titanium nitride finish that is acid etched to give it a unique pattern that will be exclusive to each fortunate owner. The handle has a katana style nylon cord wrap over a black faux ray skin. The sheath of the Obake is made from glass filled nylon that will give consistent retention even in hot environments. A paracord lanyard on the sheath is designed to attach to your belt loop and keep the sheath in place when you deploy the knife. A skull bead adds a not-so-subtle accent to the paracord lanyard. This small fixed blade knife comes with a sturdy belt carry system and hardware that attaches to the grommets on the sheath. Veteran and current martial arts practitioner/instructor James Williams developed these fixed blade knife designs to meet user specific requests of coalition forces overseas for a more powerful tactical tool. These knives are deployed when the operator's firearms cannot be used, as often happens in entry and search operations. These fixed blade knives are designed for multiple carry options (all come with a versatile Kydex and/or Molded PVC sheath) to suit the operator. Each knife has its own advantages of size with their full-tang dual grind, high-carbon steel Tanto blades in a high satin finish. These are high performance blades that necessitate the need to keep the blade well maintained. We recommend you keep these blades (in particular) well oiled to be ready in the field at a moment's notice. James followed centuries of Japanese tradition in designing these classic cord-wrapped handles with ray skin underlays, which compares well to more modern handle materials, giving excellent grip under all conditions. Sheaths are custom-fitted molded PVC with their own convertible belt-mounting system. Grip detents and flaired entry lips allow the knives to be resheathed securely with one hand. A belt clip can be attached, and there is also a quick-release retaining strap. The Hisshou®, Shinbu and Sakimori knives command great respect, and are truly meant for today's military professional.
