$134.00TOPS Micro Hawk 01 Shawn Owens brings a wealth of martial arts experience to his design, the Micro Hawk. He has trained for over 30 years in Filipino martial arts and Muay Thai. He is an instructor and has trained civilians, LEOs, and military personnel alike. On top of all that, he is also a pilot. The 5/16" thick 1095 steel feels as solid as it looks, but wont weigh too much on your belt. The camo paracord wrap has obvious uses for survival, but also gives a comfortable grip on the knife. The minimalistic Kydex sheath keeps the weight down, but holds the Micro Hawk in place securely. The Micro Hawk was designed to be an EDC defensive tool, small enough to carry daily, and can also be versatile. Shawn has effectively combined the traits of a karambit, tomahawk, and a traditional knife into one piece. He is an athlete - ultra-marathons, triathlons, rock climbing, etc., a martial artist - several styles, and an expert in primitive weapons, hunting, and shelters. He has more "dirt time" than almost anyone else out there. In keeping with the same theme as his first design through TOPS (the Little Bugger). It's thin with TOPS'; modified Scandi grind, a tumble finish and tan canvas Micarta handle scales. This one comes with a deep carry brown leather sheath that Matt designed based off some old Native American styles of sheath. It is meant to ride cross-draw, underneath the belt, towards the back side of the wearer. Please keep in mind, the stock of this tool is 1/8" thick. Therefore, uses like batoning are not recommended and bent blades due to that type of use will not be covered under the warranty. It is meant for the types of uses you would normally get from a machete. Ana has worked at TOPS since about 2012. She has filled many roles in the company during her tenure, from cord wrapping handles to purchasing everything (parts, pieces, tools, even paper towels) for the company. So she is familiar with every TOPS knife out there right now and has ordered the materials to make it happen. One night in 2019, while Leo was traveling for a show, she cracked open a beer, sat down at the table, and started drawing a knife. It’s funny because that is not something she normally does. There wasn’t a specific type of knife she was thinking about or something that she wanted to emulate, but she must have been inspired because that knife ended up becoming the Field Dog. The flowing lines and curves make this knife excellent for processing fish, birds, and small game, especially for those that like a pointy tip on their hunting knives. The handle design/materials morphed through the prototyping process. In the end, tan/black G10 handles with Orange G10 inserts give this knife a striking look and will stand out when you set it down on the ground. The blade steel is 154cm so it will be fairly low maintenance with great edge holding capabilities. The black leather sheath is modular so it can be worn left or right-handed and horizontal or vertical.
