The Mini Scandi Folder designed by TOPS and made by Maserin has been a welcome addition to the TOPS lineup for several years now. Because of its popularity and functionality, we’ve decided to add another blade option on what is basically the same handle. This new liner lock MSF has G10 handles instead of Micarta. We also wanted to use a “super steel” –Elmax in this case –that we hadn’t used before for the folks that have been wanting high end steels from TOPS. The pivot screw has a little more flare and the pocket clip has been converted to a deep carry clip. It is still reversible for the lefty’s out there too. The other main difference is that this blade is a clip point with a high flat grind instead of a modified Scandi drop point. Once you get this blade in your pocket and start using it, it is sure to become a main choice for EDC folders.

The Silent Hero 04 with Smooth Black Canvas Micarta Handle will definitely hold up to hard use. And with a weight of only 12 oz, you'll be able to use the knife without getting fatigued too quickly.

  There is a lanyard hole in the handle along with another in the finger guard. This is meant to allow the user to add a safety cord in order to improve the grip on the handle, which already allows for a solid grip. The finger-guard hole can also be used to assist in lashing to a spear when the situation warrants it.

  There is a finger choil up into the blade to give you the ability to choke up and execute precise, fine cuts. The drop point design makes this knife great for slicing and gives the tip extra strength. So this knife will be a great knife for bushcraft, survival, and tactical purposes.

Überfire is completely hydrophobic, which means it will not absorb water, so even if it gets wet, the user just needs to discard any standing water in the tin and then light it up. It is an excellent source of steady, intense heat that provides the user a means of drying out small tinder within his immediate proximity. Many useful tools have come from the Japanese over the years. The Nata (which translates in this context roughly to hatchet) is one that hasn’t seen as much of the limelight as weapons like the katana or EDC tools like the kiridashi. It was used primarily as a gardening tool, pruning or removing limbs from trees, clearing brush, and handling tasks that you might expect from a knife before power tools or modern tools existed. However, the Nata’s simplistic design compliments its functionality perfectly.

TOPS’ version of the Nata blends the traditional Japanese style with American grit. The wide rectangular blade keeps mass behind the entire length of the edge, which makes it chop better than most knives of its size. Chopping power is also enhanced by the canted handle. TOPS version has a standard flat grind on both sides of the blade rather than the chisel or single-beveled style that many Japanese tools have. It is also a full-tang knife just like all TOPS fixed-blades are. The thick, well-contoured handles provide a comfortable grip and the simple out-the-front sheath makes it easy to carry and use around the house, the ranch, the campsite, or wherever else you may find yourself.
