Your forefinger will lie comfortably along the top of the blade to maximize control during skinning and field dressing chores, and hold comfortably in the two most used whittling postitions---All this from a 2.5 oz knife! The notch at the rear of the handle serves two purposes. Use the deep recess for breaking wire and the wider notch is a bottle opener. 6 3/4" overall. Those grooves improve the grip and the look of the knife, but cause hot spots like many other tread patterns. The purpose of the C.A.T.s was to provide a solid back-up blade that is easy to conceal and could save lives in the right scenario and with proper training. It is a small, strong, highly versatile knife that is easy to use and maintain. The design allows for good penetration and slashing cuts as well as a multitude of EDC uses.
